Keep getting disconnected

I have adsl with Epix pppoe (sucks), a linksys befsr41 with firmware 1.45.7. My modem is an Alcatel Speed touch Home, not the usb version. The only settings that are changed on the router is port forwarding for a few things i use and the Block WAN is disabed for the monitoring.

I keep getting disconnected and it sucks. I am not kidding when I say it happens almost every hour (i have line monitoring charts). I either have to wait it out or if it takes too long reset the modem and only then will it work. Im TIRED of doing this i dont think i should HAVE to do this. Whats the deal here?

Edit* I also forgot to mention when i do get disconnected i can still ping the routers ip (the default 198.162.1.1)

I found I had issues also with DSL. It would get an IP and everything but nothing would go out. What ended up fixing it for me is setting the router up to handle the PPoE portion. I set the stay alive to 20 seconds and have not had an issue with it yet. Everything is working fine. I am using BEFSX41 with the 1.45.7 firmware.

I remember reading somewhere on DSLReports that another user did the same thing to fix the issue.

If you're running windows XP or Windows 2003 disabling the advanced networking DNS option "Register this connection's addresses in DNS" has proven to help some plp, including me , on this kind of behavior...give it a shot..
