Re: Canada's Wonderland

StEC posted : Well they supposedly bought the land across the 400 many years ago for future expansion but now it's a gigantic subdivision. And the land right next to them which was just as big is now going to be a supermall. So they have no land left to expand on. Thay are landlocked with very little space left. If you have noticed many of the new rides have replaced older rides. So even though they have gotten many new rides over the last 10 years the number of rides has not really grown too much. Wonderland don't even have room for one of the new type of super or giga coasters and that's a shame. Coasters are reaching 400+ feet in the air and the tallest one at Wonderland is the Bat at 125' & was built in 1987. It's the only mega park without a coaster over 200' these days. :(

»www.rcdb.com/locationdet ··· il11.htm

Also because of the neighbouring subdivisions Wonderland is no longer aloud to have rock concerts because of the noise complaints. How stupid is that???? If you bought a house near an amusement park what gives you the right to complain about noise then????

There were rumours that Wonderland was moving to Marineland in Niagara Falls 3 years ago because there is so much more room to expand but Wonderland actually took a full page spread in the Toronto Star & the Niagara Falls Review to denounce the rumours.
--
The Ultimate Net Radio »www.mercora.com/

you2 posted : When I worked there, they were talking about buying the neighbouring land. I don't know if they've expanded recently, or ever, but the place doesn't seem to have been built with expansion in mind. As part of my job, I had to walk around the park quite a bit.
mt_dsl posted : This brings up an interesting point....do you think CW is inadequately built to accommodate the number of people going?? I don't have a gauge like Six Flags or Disney since I've never been, but are the wait times, packed people as bad in these other parks as it is in Wonderland? We went before the water park opened and that was the best time ...but we are planning again for the end of August and I'm dreading it :(
