Using Avast Virus Cleaner with Norton AntiVirus

A friend has Norton antivirus 2003 installed and consistently gets w32.netsky virus alerts that Norton cannot fix or delete and puts into quarantine. If she disables "auto protect" in Norton, can she use the Avast Virus Cleaner as per attached link without running into software conflicts between Avast and Norton.

Hmm strange.
The Netskys i got was all deleted and a copy kept in quarantine. Goes for both NAV 2003/2004.
Perhaps your friends NAV are damaged or something like that.
Wait for some of the NAV gurus to jump in.:)
BTW.Has she tried uninstall/reinstall?

Re: Using Avast Virus Cleaner with Norton AntiViru

Are these alerts coming from the System Restore folder (WinME and XP users)? If that's the case, just cycle through a disable/enable System Restore.

•"How to disable or enable Windows Me System Restore"
•"How to turn off or turn on Windows XP System Restore"

Should have been more specific. She has XP Pro. Could have got into her system restore??

Would it make sense to advise her to disable system restore and then run NAV 2003 in safe mode to ensure Netsky processes are not running when NAV 2003 is scanning???

Yes, definitely have her disable system restore and then run NAV in safe mode.
