I don't think your momentary bump was IP related, unless you somehow got put on a commercial package for a little while.<br><SMALL>--<br>On August 9, 2004 Cox Communications upgraded 3000/256 areas to 4500/500.  "Middle America Cox" is still running at 1024/128, for the same fee as the faster areas. <description><![CDATA[Rdax posted : Well for what's it worth I have been offline for 3 days due to a PSU failure in my PC. Just got back up and after testing speeds I am right back to 1024/18. So now I have to wonder what happened.<br><br>I am hoping it was testing in this area for an upgrade to come soon. But since I only ran 2 tests before it's possible I made a mistake or just got erroneous readings. I have run plenty of tests this morning and nothing reads over 1024/128.<br><br>So no one in Eldorado Ar got any speed increase. The only two things I use are those registry additions/changes.<br><br>I appreciate the replies.. and yes everyone should always be careful. <description><![CDATA[rayjonesy posted : *** *** ***<br><br>For those of you who have not seen the speed increase or want to make sure you have your systems tweaked correctly.<br><br>Do the following.<br><br>First and formost.. install the following tweaks for your system:<br><br>&raquo;<A HREF="http://members.cox.net/www/tweaks.zip" >members.cox.net/www/tweaks.zip</A><br><br>Inside the zip are two files for NT/2K/XP and one for 95/98.<br><br>Double-Click on both of the NT/2K/XP files which will import the information into your registry, you can right-click and choose edit if you want to look at the content.<br><br>For 95/98 you will see that one file is an .ini file, you will need to right click and choose install for it, the other file is a .reg file which you just double-click and it will install the information into the registry.<br><br>After you have done that, unplug you cable modem, for a minute, and while it's unplugged reboot your PC that you have just accomplished the tweaks on.<br><br>When you reboot the PC, plug back in your cable modem.<br><br>You should have received any new data which was pushed from cox.  If it doesn't work.. you can ask cox to manually push data to your cable modem, but I actually came home yesterday and did what I just stated and my speeds had increased from 370KB/s to 500KB/s downstream and 35KB/s up to 62.5KB/s up.<br><br>If none of these steps work, you probably haven't been upgraded at this time.  If you are on cox-internet, good luck to you... I've been at someone's house with the service and it was painstakingly slow.. this was a year ago back in Arkansas.  I use cox.net out of the Panhandle area in Florida.<br><br>Good luck to you all.]]></description>
