Re: [RCN] Toshiba Modems and the Mach 7 Upgrade?

I just posted a new Topic about this before I read this one. I just got the Mach 7 upgrade. My internet connection was still the same (slow). I had RCN replace my Toshiba PCX1100 and the speeds improved a little, but not much. I decided to disconnect temporarily) my Linksys router and the download speed jumped to Mach 7 speed. The Links router was my problem. Any suggestions on what software changes I need to make to the Router, or do I need to replace it. As soon as I hook the Linksys router back up, my speed drops.

OK - I've seen you've posted this here now. You must have an old model Linksys then?

if it's anything like my linksys router, make sure you aren't putting your computer into DMZ mode. for some reason whenever i attempt to do that (sometimes i'm too lazy to assign ports) my speeds drop from ~6000/800 to ~1500/800. no reason, no explanation, so i just avoid it.
