Kaspersky or Nod32Hi. I'm currently using Nod32 and I've been hearing a lot of good things about the Kaspersky AV. Is it better then what I'm using? U quit Norton because it was a resource hog, how does Kaspersky compare? |

I'm a NOD fan, but KAV has quite a following as well and they do have a trial download you can play with. Install it and see how your system behaves (though don't forget to turn off NOD32 during the test). |

Kaspersky's supposed to use a lot of resources. In addition, it adds ADS Streams that a lot of people are upset about. » Alternate Data Stream Removal» Removing KAV5's ADS tagsOn the other hand, many consider it to be the premiere AV, in terms of catching viruses, which explains the weight, I think. Personally, I would agree. As a gamer, I want something lightweight, but if that's not your bag, go for it. Here's some KAV info on its great performance at catching viruses. » www.computershopper.co.u ··· id=62111Testing at: » www.av-comparatives.org/and www.virusbulletin.com show KAV is at the top. Check through the forums at Wilders (www.wilderssecurity.com) and here at Broadbandreports and you'll see plenty of positive notes as well. |

Kaspersky AV has better overall detection, its detection of backdoors/trojans is really something. But you should try yourself whether it works well with your hardware/software configuration. I personally never had any problems with KAV. Download trial version here: » www.kaspersky.com/trials ··· 46481750 |

You can just d/l KAV 4.5 {rather than 5.0} if you don't want the ADS streams. |

Thanks. I guess I'll give it a shot. |

More software bashing already this weekend I see. But I'll refrain from getting into that any further. Honestly this type of thread isn't going to go anywhere of value. You'll get the Kaspersky lovers = me - saying how great it is. Those of us who are big fans of KAV will most likely be called a cult or something similar. Then the NOD fans will come in and you'll see the same situation as I mentioned above. It's probably just best to use the site search or other resources to find previous threads that express viewpoints. It would seem you've already done some reading. Or you wouldn't be asking the question your asking. This might be worth a look and read » Re: Favorite Anti Virus Software» How does KAV stack up to a team like NOD32/TDS-3?"Thanks. I guess I'll give it a shot." Be sure to fully uninstall NOD or what ever your current antivirus solution is. Also keep in mind that 4.5 is bit more involved in setting up than 5.0. Not hard - just more options. Which many here like. » KAV Weekly Update Overview 12/13/02 |

There was no bashing involved. I have no feelings toward either product. I'm still trying to determine what my next AV will be. I was just giving him information that I felt was pertinent.
Personally, I think KAV is the premiere AV out there. If I was bashing I wouldn't say that. But it is definitely heavy on the resources (I don't think any will deny that) and the ADS issue is an issue for many.
No bashing, just information. |

Look anyone who continues to post those threads time and again has an agenda. There is not a major problem with the software as some would like others to think. So yes - it is bashing - if you continue to represent something as fact time and time again - that isn't fact. Was there one link to anything positive about KAV in that post? Not in my opinion. If you look at my previous postings recently in this regard. You will see both positive and negative links. Not just one side of the coin. |

Iggy, I am not trying to say there is something wrong with the software. And frankly I am a little perturbed that you would accuse me of bashing.
However, did you read my reply to you? I said it is the premiere AV IMHO.
To satisfy you I will add links to indicate that in my original reply. OK? |
