2wire modem sync issues

I've had a 2wire dsl/wireless modem for 3 years. I didn't even know toaster2k left until I logged on recently. With toaster2k's help, I had sync issues that was related to a bridge-tap rectified. I've been fine until recently. Everyday for the last week, around 6pm till probably after midnight, the sync light would change from green to orange, flash a few times, and resyncs. This would occur every few minutes or so. The sync would be fine in the morning till 6pm.

I have not changed anything in our house recently. There are no new electronics, or lighting equipment in the house. I did not change any telephone wiring or moved the dsl modem to a new location. All the filters are in place. What I do know is there has been some new construction lately and thru my window xp, I know there is a new dsl connection nearby; my wireless card "senses" it. Could this be a new bridge-tap issue? I live in south lake tahoe, california and my area code is 530 and the prefix is 542. Thanks for your help. If you need more info, please PM me.

The good news is that toaster is back (at least temporarily and possibly permanently)!

If you could please answer some questions that might help with your sync problems:

Are you connected to a CO or RT and what is your distance?
What speed package do you have?
Can you post a copy of your line stats from the 2Wire while connected during the daytime and then a copy while the modem is struggling to maintain sync?

Bridged taps are not made when there is new construction, but when a stub on a loop is disconnected without cutting back to the cable trunk or a stub is added to a loop, so unless a party line customer or a wiretap on your phone loop has just been removed, there wouldn't be any new bridged taps. Now that DSL is here, I think SBC is more careful about not creating any new bridged taps and those that are found have been there for years.

What your wireless card is detecting is someone else with a wireless router. Other routers won't cause the sync light to fluctuate like that.
