I don't think so. I would stick with Windows 98. I had Windows 2000 Professional on my machine, and some games would not work on it. Windows XP should be awesome for games I heard.

i made the switch from 98 to 2k in may and havent looked back since. The suppourt is slowly but surely being backed. win2k is my os of choice.

Just upgraded to win2k profesional and aside from having to re-install some drivers Everything works fine. Better, infact. Since upgrading I havent gotten 1 lockup or Blue screen of death.
I will never go back even if some games DO conflict (which they havent).
If you are asking me, UPGRDE UPGRADE UPGRADE.

That is a misleading statement. WinXP is the next version along the NT-based product line (it is not just an upgrade), and will have improved support for gaming than 2k (although 2k was fine for most games).

Yes, as for now 98 SE is the king of compatibility, but 2000 is the king of performance, when the game is compatible, it runs better than on 98 in most cases. Also, 2000 has some nicer gizmos and frankly, it just looks better. My hard drive is partitioned and I run the most finicky of games (B & W) on 98.
