Earthlink DSL → Can't access to major website?

I can't access to many major website this morning such as Yahoo, Download.com, ABC.com... etc.
Does anyone has the same problem or just me?

Went to the sites you mentioned and had no problems accessing them.
Just checked the Status page for EarthLink/Mindspring and nothing is on alert. Sounds local in your neck of the woods.
Do some trace routes in DOS and ping as well. See if you get any drops along the way.

Yup something is wrong with their DNS server I think.

I think TransitMan is right, it must be a San Francisco, Bay Area, including San Jose. This is so screwed up LOL, all the counter strike servers in Asia is pinging 280~300ms and all the server in US is 9999ms MUAHAHAHAHHAHAHA someone get help please!

Same problem here in the San Jose area.

Earthlink must have updated some network software/equipment someplace. Its getting to be an old story.

Following are some traces using NeoTrace. Its clear they have a routing problem. However, its interesting to note that their system eventually finds a path to dslreports.com.

They must have routes to earthlink.net hardcoded.

SameO SameO here. 2:20 pacific time and can't access most of my usual sites. I can get to Earthlink System Status, which of course doesn't mention the problem.
Who would have thought living in the heart of high tech Silicon Valley would bring such lousy technical service/reliability?

I'm on the phone with EL tech support on a different matter, but he mentioned Oakland and some other spots in California are having problems with websites again today, and that all of New England is in hell right now with those cut fiber lines.

Oh, and not all Earthlink techs are bad. He does the same thing I do: He keeps calling Covad and gets a guy he knows won't help, so he calls back and gets the same guy, and hangs up.

I live in Long Island and have been having the same problem! It is very frustrating. Good thing I can connect to the Everquest servers . Does anyone have a status report on this problem?

For New England, all your problems are from that Baltimore accident. It cut quite a few major fiber lines.
