[WAB102]Can not reach config page

For the life of me,I tried everything in the book and still can not get the configuration page up...IE or FF just wont see it.

I have smc 7004abr router
wab102 to port 4
laptop to port 2 for docking station use
in the laptop when useing around the house/yard i use WAG511

Ok...all is fine...I get net fine full speed no problems...cept I'm open.I want to add security and I can do so on the laptop/card side but then I need to do same security for WAB102 AP but I cannot reach the cfg page.
It has been updated but that was months ago...oh yeah...it was able to access the cfg page once and once only where I took advantage and updated the firmware...i believe its two before the current version.

I have tried resetting ...still null.

My smc router sees the mac addy of my card so I know Im gettn through the ap.

DHCP is enabled auto everywhere...xp...and router etc.

My smc is 192.168.2.1
my lappy is 192.168.2.2(docked)
and 192.168.2.3 with wag511 cardbus
I allowed up to 192.168.2.226 which i dont normally do.

I have even tried changeing my ip on the laptop with cardbus to WAB102 default of 192.168.2.226 subnet but nada!

From the tutorials/support If dhcp isnt enabled it defaults to the 192.168.0 subnet but I have dhcp enabled .

Any advice?

thanx

Hm. Ok, I have this puppy too, and I've (at some point) changed its IP to be on my 10. subnet. So now I just use it's new static IP.

Before I did that, it was at the default address of (according to the manual here: »ftp://downloads.netgear.com/fi ··· nual.pdf)
quote:
For advanced users: To access the built-in Web Server home page on the
WAB102, we suggest that you have a DHCP server on the Ethernet Network.
If there is no accessible DHCP server, the WAB102 Access Point will default
to the IP address of 192.168.0.226 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. You
will need to configure the IP address of the computer to be within the same
subnet for the initial configuration.
- since I had DHCP on, the wab102 got an address from it. I looked up the active leases in my linux dhcp server and found it there.

So, you should look at the active dhcp leases in the SMC (or wherever the dhcp server is) and you'll find it. Then use that IP in IE (and then either make a fixed IP for it's MAC address in your DHCP server, or give it a static IP out of the DHCP range)

Note - the manual also gives you the default userid/password for the AP - which you should change

Er.. you can also hunt around your lappy address:

192.168.2.3

So try 192.168.2.4,5,6,7... etc. It's bound to be around there somewhere (DHCP usually just gives 'em out in order.)

It even shows all fine in status

Just my browser will not get to the cfg page...really is annoying.Noone has wireless let alone a pc by me anyway...but there is some shady hacker types here in my town;)

bah...i tried that.I even made the routers ip go from 192.168.2-5 just to limit the amount of ip's given out rebooted network and all is fine cept I cant get to router cfg page still.

whats wierd is I'm supposed to put "netgear******" with "*" being last six digits of mac of router but still no.

I also see in smc router my laptop and the wireless cards ip...both binded to a 192.168.2.* ip.Shouldnt I see the wireless access points mac addy in there somewhere??

I wish I had my nix box up...was easier to get info from for the network:/

Click for full size
my AP page
Just go to the AP ip address, nothing more:

ie: »192.168.2.4

and that's it. Can you view the dhcp leases off your dhcp server?

doesnt work.

in routers status all I have is;

1970/01/01 00:00:03 DHCP Client : Send Discover
1970/01/01 00:00:04 DHCP Client : Receive Offer from 167.206.3.179
1970/01/01 00:00:09 DHCP Client : Send Request, Request IP = 24.228.82.25
1970/01/01 00:00:09 DHCP Client : Receive Ack from 167.206.3.179, Lease time = 302394
1970/01/01 00:00:18 192.168.2.3 login successful
2004/11/16 14:24:30 192.168.2.3 login successful
2004/11/16 16:31:56 192.168.2.3 login successful

192.168.2.3 is my laptop with the netgear cardbus.
netstumbler shows my AP and its on 192.168.2.0/24

Well - weird. The router doesn't give you a display of active leases/mac addressess?

Clearly, the AP is on the local subnet (192.168.2.0/24) - did you power cycle it? You might see it get a new dhcp lease then.
