Should have never called sbc about bill

I called sbc to change a couple items on phone plan to save some money. The lady i talked to said all she could do to make my phone bill cheaper would be to give me a faster dsl plan at a cheaper cost. So she switched me from my old plan(expert plus) at $47.47 which was getting 5.044mbps down/512.95 up. Now i checked speeds and im getting 2.544 down/ 351.18 up. Damn i should have never called sbc about anything.

I believe that once you got locked in on the Expert Plus plan (6000/608) back in Feb & March of '04, if you wanted to keep it you were supposed to do nothing. Don't try to call and renew your contract or make any type of change in the plan.

It may be next to impossible to get it back now, however, you may want to try posting in the SBC Direct forum and see if one of the techs there may be able to help. Good luck.

I called sbc back today and after 7 transfers and 45 minutes i am suppose to get the expert plus plan back sometime in the next 5 days. I should keep more up to date on the newest sbc plans available.

Still no increase in speed. I will hold off till next monday to see if speed increases before calling them back.

I experienced the SAME damn thing.

It took only me here to get me back and now she's leaving!!

DO NOT under any circumstances call SBC billing if you have the Expert Plus 6000/600 plan!!!!

They will screw you and drop you down to the 3000/384. SBC service has really gone downhill. The SBC Direct Forum was just the beginning. It's really sad.

You're forgetting one key ingredient here:

Don't ever trust the billing reps on the phone.

I've called in a couple of times to make changes to my bill since I've had the Pro 6/608 plan, and never once has my DSL plan been changed. They always try to offer a lower rate DSL plan, but I always specified not to make ANY changes whatsoever to my DSL. Always worked so far.

But they can always make excuses like you're using more bandwidth then the average user, therefore their dropping you to 3.0/512 and lowering your package to expert pro... which i hope, I'm jealous of your piggy speed, it's not fair

lol, dude just learn to live with a little less speed, a savings of 8.00 is very well worth it. it takes a little while getting use to it. I would also suggest cancelling Inline repair plan 4.95 and International calling plan 3.95 to save about 9.00
These are nothing more then cashcow for SBC

LOL. I doubt SBC will be doing that any time soon. Just ask removed .

Still no speed increase but i am being charged for expert plus plan again. I guess thats a start:o. Just ran speed test and i am at 2.5Mbps/351Kbps:( still and thats far from 5.0 Mbps/512Kbps that i was at. Looks like i am going to have to put some long hours in on the phone. The two hours i spent on the phone with sbc last night didnt get me anywhere but finding out that i am being charged for it now. I wish i knew exactly who to call the being transfered ten times is such a run around.

I had lots of experience with time warner and sbc internet services. I think the wise thing is to check every single deal out there, online or offline but before checkin the deals everyone should be aware of their location capabilities (CO and RT). A perfect connection will definetly change if you ever decide to move to some other location. I had all kinds of problems after moving.

I agree before calling to upgrade or downgrade packages, it would be wise to spend some time with tech guys especially second tier support people in order to get more info on ur location capabilites. Overall sbc offers better services then any other provider.
