OK folks, I have a question. Despite earlier railing and protestation, I finally broke down and installed Windows XP Pro on my laptop last night.
I have a Sony PGC-748 with 256 MB and a 4 GB hard drive. The Sony is a 266 MHz machine; slow but it gets the job done. I formatted the hard drive (NTFS) to do a clean install. No problems, the install process recognized all my hardware, including the CD R/W attached through a PCMCIA SCSSI card.
My question: With a clean drive and only Windows XP installed (administrator and one user), should this operating system take up 1.6 GB of disk space? That seems a bit much, even for MicroShaft.
Yes, it's right there. I guess I just never paid that part enough attention. I was concerned about processor speed and memory. Gods, what bloat!
I have looked at the interface now through several different color schemes and styles. The interface looks like something you would find on a child's toy. It does NOT look like a tool for a professional.
Hell, the president of my company already thinks Windows is too childish. Course, he is also color-blind.
