StarForce protection version 3, more problems!I just recently installed two legitimate software packages, SuperPower 2 and Blitzkrieg Rolling Thunder. I write game reviews for Game Chronicles Magazine (www.gamechronicles.com) and I am supposed to review Blitzkrieg in the near future. The problem that I have is that I am unable to get the game to run. I have installed it on my review machine which has numerous cd / dvd readers and burners, and it just won't run. I get an error about not having the cd in the drive. It is in the drive that I installed the game from, but neither of these will work.
Someone mentioned in another post that these new protection schemes are hurting legitimate users and I would agree. The good thing about all of this is that it will be mentioned in my review of the game. Luckily, I didn't have to pay my own money for these games, the game publishers sent them to us at no charge for us to review them. If I had paid for these games, I would be fuming mad - especially since I would be unable to return it to the retail store where it was purchased. So basically, if I had purchased it, I would basically have wasted $50 on a game that I couldn't play. Did you hear that? I would not be able to play something that I legitimately purchased. This is where the problem begins. Now I am FORCED to find a no-cd crack or something of the sort so that I can just play the game that I purchased.
StarForce protection seems to be driving people toward getting the no-cd cracks with their defective protection. They are creating a larger demand for something they claim to be stopping. I don't call it a solution if I have to physically remove all but one of my cd drives. What a hassle that is. At that point, I would just rather purchase a game from another publisher that doesn't use the StarForce protection scheme, just so I could play the game and get something for my $50. Any comments? |
