Skeebo7 posted : While I am certain that the 10K rule for 3.0 service is in place, EL has done a nice job in getting me up and running with 3.0 at 13K. There have been sync issues at times but they have been there regardless of my sync rate. In fact, just this week they bumped me down to 1.5 (without asking or telling me) and the sync was actually worse than at 3.0 for the day I was 1.5.

Covad says I am 13k from the CO and EL agrees. I think if one has the margins they might work with you to at least give it a shot, even if only in 3.0 'safe' mode at 2.0.

BTW, I still think something is up at the telco or with construction. My margins (15db/51% capacity occ. downstream and varying very little) look really good to the Covad tech who came out yesterday. He said resyncs should be rare - but there's still 2-3 per day. Then it immediately syncs back up.

Doctor Olds posted : If they are in your CO, it would require you to turn off your DSL while Bellsouth removes their cross-connect (you would downgrade to dial up) then after getting confirmation that Bellsouth had removed their DSL signal, a order would go to Covad for them to make their cross connect to provide their DSL sync signal. You have to be under 10,000 feet or they will provision you at 1.5 service instead.

Also, by making this change, you will have to agree to a new 12 month contract. Are you out of your initial 12 month contract? If not then you would have to pay an ETF or wait until your current contract expires.

I made the change from Bellsouth provisioning to Covad provisioning in May 2004 as my original contract expired in 2000:
»Turned off my DSL today.
mohrscircle posted : Greetings awhile back i know that EarthLink provided 3.0 upgrades for those that where provisioned through covad and not bell south. At the time I contacted ElnkShaun and found out that i could not have it provisioned thorough covad. How ever i just checked the availability at covads site and they say that i can get dsl through them. Perhaps would EarthLink be able to provision me under them now? (in order to get the 3.0 speed).

as always thanks guys!
-A Name
