Earthlink DSL → Re: Connection dropping NY metro area

I wonder if these connection problems are happening as often to Verizon DSL customers as they are to the "Earthlink"/Verizon accounts.

Nope, no problems here. Mindspring/Covad/Verizon.
1228/325 average. And, ever since I got rid of Enternet100 PPPoE and started using a Router, my connection has been more stable. Auto reconnect feature in Router if connection gets dropped, IF.
