Talking to some tech people Comcast had to do a lot more work than they anticipated to upgrade this area. Seems the original install of the cable 20 years ago was very poor so they couldn't reuse a lot of it.

In my area SBC claims to have the same problem - so they don't offer DSL. Went to the Service Center in San Jose today to pick up a HDTV box. The rep confirmed that HSI is available in the 95129 area with immediate effect. Also stated that the website is not updated regularly to reflect reality.

My speeds are averaging 2.7M down and 240K up. Supposedly the base guarenteed speeds will be upgraded by 3/31 to 4.0M down and 384K up...same price....until the next increase, of course.

Anyway, I hate my Comcast: my speed is horrible most of the time. My 3MB/s last me about 8 hr and then drop down to like 3kb/s until I unplug my modem to reset it.
