Pluto Data Credit Card ChargeI got a charge for $29.99 on my credit card that read:
888 323 8955 PLUTO D - Nicosia
When I called the number, I was told that the charge was dfrom a company called "Folk and Tribal" and it was for a DVD. However, on the date that the purchase was made, I had just had surgery so there was no way I was buying stuff online or out shopping.
I could not find the charge anywhere in my records OR this company anywhere online.
So I called back and demanded the name and contact information for the company. They said that they do not keep those records. When I demanded a refund, I was then told that they would contact the company to request my refund.
WTF? I thought they did not have that info????
So I spoke with a supervisor who also supposedly was not available. He said that the charge was showing as a refund and for security measures, they do not keep the charge information on file when a refund has been issued. In other words, the charge information was "erased magically" from their system.
Anyone know what the heck is going on?
Thanks! |

The first thing you should do is call your credit card company and dispute the charge. Let your credit card company do the legwork to chase it down. Unless the company that charged your credit card can prove that you authorized it, it will be reversed and you will never have to pay anything on it. |

I did some research and called that toll free number several times. Each time I got different information about their location. I was told that they had refunded my card but no one would tell me who "PLUTO DATA" was. The toll free number claims to be just an answering service but they seems to have my credit card information though. However, after they said it had been refunded, the information magically dissappeared from their system.
They are located in Baton Rouge, LA...
Answer Quick 7415 Town South Avenue Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70808 (888) 766-1111 Toll-free (225) 766-1111 (888) 766-1506 Toll-free fax (225) 766-1506
I called the Baton Roughe Police Department and filed a report. I have called my credit card company and will call the FBI and file a report as well.
Even after telling them that I filed a report they do not have the information to give me.
Sounds like a scam to me. I know that if "THEDOWNLOADPLACE.COM" is behind it, they are going DOWN for this SH*T. Seems like ever since I reversed their charges on my card for their fraudulent junk, strange things have been happening.
So if anyone else has had a problem such as this, please do post. |

Ah HA!!
I found yet ANOTHER charge on my card from:
Fpb Enterprises 119 Wildwood Cir Gainesville, GA 30501 770-536-1736
I called this lady and she said that someone has used her company and made over 9000 transactions within a month for under $3.00. SHe said that 5000+ have been reveresed. They shut down her website and everything and the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI are paying her a visit.
She said that they are "pinging" people's credit cards and that she has nothing to do with it. She said that she runs a small website "Pamperedpreemies" and did not know what was happening when they called her.
This is obviously some scam. Yawl better check your credit card statements for pings from strange companies. |

That's what I've been thinking about doing with a little more scrutiny, especially considering what happened just recently with Choicepoint. Who knows how many credit card numbers got into the hands of identity thieves? |

Yes, I have called my CC Company and cancelled the card. They have been alerted to the scam and have even noticed this on other peoples credit card statements so I hop they are able to stop it from going any further. |

The Former Oni Masho: I'm pretty sure that Choicepoint did not know credit card numbers, at least not the number + expiration date you would need to make a charge on it. |

I work for Answer Quick. It's an answering service, much like the ones that answer your doctor's phones after hours. We handle many compaines, Pluto being one of them. Pluto gave us a website that we log into and with a little information we can look up a charge and make a refund. We don't have you entire credit card number unless you give it to us. And we don't need the credit card number to look you up either, just your last name, and maybe a first if there's more than one of your last name in the system. However, we really don't have any information on the companies that receive your credit card numbers. Pluto is a credit card clearinghouse. I personally don't klnow to what extent they're involved with the individual charges, but I do know what my boss told me, and that's that they aren't the one's who are the actuall recepient of your stolen card number. They take any credit card information given them by a retailer and they process it with Visa, Mastercard, or whomever. So when a charge shows up on your card from Pluto Data, it means that whatever company hires Pluto to process their credit cards for them. This means that the retailer does not have the ability to handle these charges on their own. Now, with that information do what you will. However, know that Answer Quick isn't your problem, and when the operators tell you they don't have anymore information, they're not trying to "pull wool over your eyes", but merely attempting to keep their job. Most of us are college students, and we can't afford to lose our jobs. Filing charges against Answer Quick won't do you a bit of good, as they're not the problem. If you suspect fraud, you've got bigger problems than messing with some answering service in Louisiana. People don't get credit card numbers for no reason. Perhaps you should consider being a tad more careful what you do with your cards. My credit cards don't have any fraudulent charges, then again, I don't go buying porn on the internet or other interesting purchases. You need to call your company and change your number ASAP. |

First off,
How would you make any deduction that anyone purchased "porn" on the Internet? Why would you get involved in an online discussion if you were not guilty?
Why are you defending anyone for that matter?
You just give more incentive for authorities to come after you. Who cares what your boss says?
When I called Answer Quick, I was told several different things such as you are located in Washington State, New York and even was hung up on several times JUST for trying to get some answers about these charges on my credit card.
It is obvious that this is a scam, and you should know that IP Addresses are recorded here and that logging in through a PROXY won't work because 'anonymous' proxies are not anonymous when the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI are involved "WHICH THEY ARE".
If you want to give excuses, you should call the Baton Rouge 2nd Precint Police Department and give THEM your excuses. They are the one's who you might want to give the answers to "EMULATION".
And you are very wrong in concluding that Answer Quick has no part in this fraud. If you only WORK for them, you would care less and would not be posting here. Obviously you felt it was neccessary to defend YOURSELF.
If Answer Quick is the only party who has access to "PLUTO DATA'S" contact information and is using the PLUTO DATA system, then what makes you think that the authorities are not going to look at YOU FIRST and FOREMOST? Don't post your pathetic excuses here.
You are criminals and I hope that they put you out of business because you are shady and deceptive.
If you are a college student, I would suggest you go get another job real quick or let your Academic Counselor at LSU know you'll be sitting next semester out. |

Filing charges against Answer Quick won't do you a bit of good, as they're not the problem.
Yes dear, filing charges against Answer Quick would be the ONLY way to get the ball rolling. If Answer Quick did not want to get involved, then they should screen their clients with more scrutiny and ensure that they are running a "legitimate" operation. Period.
If you suspect fraud, you've got bigger problems than messing with some answering service in Louisiana.
Sounds like you are trying to create a detour. I think I will also notify the State of Louisiana Office of the Attorney General as well as the BBB and the State Corporation Commission TODAY!
People don't get credit card numbers for no reason. Perhaps you should consider being a tad more careful what you do with your cards. My credit cards don't have any fraudulent charges, then again, I don't go buying porn on the internet or other interesting purchases.
People (probably YOU) break into Internet Servers ALL the time and STEAL contact information. I personally am a developer who has to make purchases online quite a bit with our "Company Credit Card". So implying that our Company Credit Card was used to make a PORN purchase is ridiculous and quite interesting.
The representative at Answer Quick did say that the fradulent charge was made to purchase a DVD. I am wondering now if ANSWER QUICK knows more than they say. Are you making an ASSUMPTION that I purchase porn or do you know for SURE in that YOU KNOW WHAT THE FRADULENT CHARGE WAS USED TO PURCHASE? Sounds to me like you know.
And how do WE know what you go online purchasing? You could be sitting on a stack of porn as far as we know. Don't just show up on a message board and expect any respect because you made 1 post. We don't know you or care what the hell you purchase online.
Be very Careful what you type. It may just come back to haunt you. |

Anyone who receives a charge from PLUTO DATA that appears to be fraudulent and calls the contact number on their Credit Card Statement should: 1. Confirm with directory service that the phone number is ANSWER QUICK in BATON ROUGE, LA if the representative will not confirm this when asked. 2. Contact the Baton Rouge 2nd Precinct Police Department as well as the Fraud Division: 2nd Precinct - 225-389-3863 Fraud Div - 225-389-3871 3. File a complaint at » www1.ifccfbi.gov4. Make a complaint at » www.bbb.gov5. Contact the Louisiana Secretary of State at (225) 925-4704 and fax (225) 925-4726 if you have access to a fax machine. (The complaint is best in writing because it can be put in their file). 6. Contact the Department of Homeland Security at 202-282-8000. 7. CANCEL THAT CREDIT CARD NUMBER and Report it to your Banks fraud department. Be sure to give them the file number given to you by the Baton Rouge Police Department. The Contact Information on File for Answer Quick with the Louisiana Secretary of State is as follows: -Charter/Organization ID: 34345500D -Name: ANSWER QUICK TELECOMMUNICATIONS, INC. -Type Entity: Business Corporation -Status: Active -Annual Report Status: In Good Standing -Domicile Address: 7415 TOWN SOUTH AVENUE, BATON ROUGE, LA 70808 -Incorporated: 12/19/1989 -Registered Agent (Appointed 12/19/1989): JERRY L. LONG, 7415 TOWN SOUTH AVENUE, BATON ROUGE, LA 70808 -Director: JERRY L. LONG This information was obtained at » www.sos.louisiana.gov/cg ··· 4345500DDo not believe what the post says about Answer Quick not being involved. They are OBVIOUSLY right in the middle if not at the top of this scam because they are the ones answering the damn phones. If everyone pulls together and reports this as soon as you notice the charges, we can get to the bottom of who is behind this scam. I personally have a feeling that it is one individual and I am also reporting with my efforts the scams of thedownloadplace.com. So if you also have made a purchase from the thedownloadplace.com previously using the same credit card number, then be sure to note that with ALL of your complaints. |

I just recieved my cc statement and had Pluto D on it for 29.99. I called them and they said it was for a cd called Fantasy Milestones and they would give a refund but I called my card any way. The cc company said I had to call back Pluto and get a cancelation number etc etc etc and give Pluto 30 days to respond. As I was talking to the cc company I googled Pluto D and found you guys and read the messages to the gal on the phone. She immeadiately turned me over to the complaint dept. They called Pluto to ask questions - came back on line and said they could get no info either. My cc company said they will reverse the charge AND INTEREST tomorrow and get a letter out to me verifying it. WAY TO GO GUYS - - - Many thanks |

I noticed over the past weekend that charges were pending on my cc account. Yesterday, the $29.99 charge from Pluto D showed up and I called the bank. They then transferred me to a department lady who called the number listed. After asking my name and address (and apparently finding it didn't match) gave the bank a cancellation number. I also told the bank there was another pending charge which she reviewed with me. It was either to "Fun to Sun" or vice versa. After telling her that this was also a fraudulent charge, she said she would close the account, notify the credit bureau of fraud on the account, send me new cards and an affidavit to sign. These guys should be hung without trial!!!!! Sorry legalbegal. |

very interesting. sounds like something in the works here. In a seemingly innocent conversation, a friend of mine mentioned a credit card charge (specifically: check card) purchase of the same amount dealing with a movie she never heard of. I'm waiting to hear back from her to see who did the charge. might be another Pluto victim. |

ad hominem much?
Look, I don't care who you file a report with, because it will never affect me. I'm making posts from my home IP and I (oibviously) don't care if you log it.
Look, I wasn't being rude to you, but merely attempting to tell you what was going on. I was trying to help you.
Haunt me? I'd like to know how.
This thread is hilarious. |

I just saw the same thing on my bank statement. charged today 2-22 but when we called they said the purchase was made on 2-18. They knew my name but the address they said the DVD was sent to was in another state! I reported my Visa compromised and requested new ones. I was wondering if you ever shop on auctions? I bought an Ipod from someone before Christmas, sent the credit card number directly to the company only to find out later it was not a real company. |

I just found a charge on my debit card from Pluto D Nicosia. I called the 888-323-8955 number that was referenced and was told I bought a dvd from DRG Records for $19.99 on 2-20-05. This is crazy. Did any of you recently sign up for any trail offers with Emusic.com or any other mp3 websites? I am thinking that may be how they got my info. |

Hey, I also had $29.99 charged on 2/18, and the name was uncovered on the 22nd as the same "Pluto D Nicosia." I called the 1-888 number and Pluto said that they were some sort of clearinghouse and that I had purchased a music CD from "Fast Tracks," what the heck?? Do you think I should close my card and get a new one like most people on this forum, since I havent gotten additional weird charges like this one, yet, on my account |

Call the number back and ask them if they are Answer Quick and are based in Baton Rouge. Ask them if they have a contact number for PLUTO DATA.
The assumption is that the people answering the phones HAVE information for PLUTO DATA, but are not releasing it. YOu should follow the instructions in the beginning of this thread and report this to the Baton Rouge Ploice Department. |
