91439306 posted : No airline that I have flown on has announced that it is okay to resume use of electronic devices when airborne. And I have always looked around me to see if anyone else was using any devices--none were. And I desparately wanted to fire up my camera and take pictures out the window, but my camera was electronic, so I abstained. Had I risked brining my Pentax SpotMatic, which is non-electronic, I would have been able to take some nice photos while flying.
--
Take care,

Mark & Mary Ann Weiss

Hear my Kurzweil Creations at: »www.dv-clips.com/theater.htm
'http://www.mwcomms.com/auctions.htm

I hope i read ur post wrong :) But if not, you may need to get out more ;)

The message you hear "turn off all elecs...." is for take off, and once they reach their cruising altitude they announce it is now ok to use any portable electronic devices.

for $29.95 for the service would be worth it to many exec's and or tech's (depending on time of flight). But I don't see it staying that high of a price for very long.

91439306 posted : #1: When they announce that you must turn off all electronic devices when the door is closed and the plane leaves the gate (and they don't say you can turn them on again until the plane has landed and has returned to the gate) that short amount of time between takeoffs and after landing is not very useful. I have never seen anyone use a CD player, electronic game or laptop PC on any flight.

#2: with business class costing six times as much as coach, flying becomes a second mortgage affair. Who the heck can afford the price? (PAL charges about $6K from SFO to MNL and $14K for 1st class, while coach is $860).

I would love to pass the time on an 18-hour flight by spending it on the web, or doing work on my PC. There is only so long one can sit idle, pondering whether the next turbulence will break up the plane...
--
Take care,

Mark & Mary Ann Weiss

Hear my Kurzweil Creations at: »www.dv-clips.com/theater.htm
'http://www.mwcomms.com/auctions.htm

jakub808 posted : SAS has 110 volt plugs in Biz class and Economy Flex, Economy has like 5 seats that have the plugs rest do not.. As far as the connection, its pretty slow but what do you expect you are 36000 feet in the air over a satellite.. Still its hella cool to chat your wait through the 8 hour trip, rather than sit there looking at the little map with the airplane with it.
