Just signed up for Phoenix

Hey Everyone...

I just ordered, last night, Phoenix DSL... and I hope the nightmare has ended, and there will be no more trouble (I'll get in to that soon).

Anyways, I read over a lot of the posts here before deciding everything, and you guys are great at sharing your stories. There were a few good stories, and many many "trouble" stories.

The reason I decided to pick PhoenixDSL over the others is simple comparison. Anyone read the reviews on PSN or FlashCom? They're 10x worse then anything I've read on Phoenix.

I'm not a big gamer, so I'm not worried about latency when gaming, and any speed is better than the 46666 connection I'm on now, so if I don't get the 784/392, I'll survive.

Anyways, after reading everything here about time issues, and calls, I've decided to make a small time calendar, which I did before my call to Phoenix.

This was my call to Phoenix (all times are EST):

6:49pm : Ring to 877-7DSL-NOW.

6:54pm : Got an unidentified tech who said I was in the tech support area, and would transfer me to sales.

6:57pm : Got TIM who said I was still in Tech Support, and he would transfer me to "residential sales".

7:03pm : Got BRIAN who, again, said I was in Tech Support and he would transfer me to sales. At this time, I told a friend of mine that was here with me that if the next person I talked to wasn't sales, it was back to dslreports.com to find a new DSL provider.

7:08pm : 5 minutes later I got Jamie Cowgill. The first words out of my mouth were "Are you residential sales?". He stated he was, and continued to check my address.... 8800ft away, is that good? He told me he could provide my home 784/392 for $39.95/mo, and asked if I would like a contract -- he then EMail me the contract.

8:47pm : I checked constantly over the hour and half for the contracts, and got worried he mistyped my email address. They finally came in with an 8:47pm timestamp. I wasn't upset at all about waiting, I was simply anxious. I'm sure Jamie has other customers to help out.

And today, I continue to read over posts, and see the good and the bad, but I guess I'll need to write my own book....

By the way - anyone here from Braintree/Boston area (south shore MA) care to share any experiences with Phoenix in this area?

Am in Westford MA, approx 1000 ft from co. Contracted 768/408 on 4/6/00. Line layed 3 weeks later (am 300ft off rd). Installation completed first week in May. Connection came straight up, albeit at what appears to be 340/220. Still haven't been billed for initial order!! (as of 6/5/00). No outages and the only problem is the half speed issue.
Just talked to Phoenix again, as I keyed this, They report that there appears to be some unknown router between them and my IP address, I agree with them as my tracert shows the same unknown host timeout between them and me. They claim that this is what the issue is, I think this may be something to do with the unrequested ping responses that my firewall is reporting. Tech support say they will call me back later and hope to track down and clear the issue tonite.
