[speed/latency] Optimum vs Verizon in 10461?Hello,
Could someone please give me some advice about Optimum vs Verizon in 10461 (Bronx, NY). I currently have Optimum, no problems, but Verizon fees are very attractive (plus de free Wi-Fi net).
I used to have Verizon in 10021 and actually couldn't tell the difference in speed compared to my current Optimum connection, but I was very close to the Verizon CO. So, one of my concerns now is how the distance factor may affect Verizon in my current address.
Thanks very much in advance! |

I have the 3/768 DSL package in 10465.
My speeds vary between about 1.7 and 2.8 down depending upon time of day & demand on the system. While I haven't run any real latency tests, it doesn't seem to be much of an issue... I've heard as a general rule, DSL has lower latency than cable.
I'd say make the switch (on a trial basis) as long as you can get the 3/768 package. Stick with cable if you can't.
Finally, be sure to cross your fingers that we get FIOS soon! |
