Can anyone advise on the actual speeds of Ya.com in the Cadiz province? Specifically Medina Sidonia. I'm planning to sign up for 1MB sin hardware from Ya as it seems the cheapest option but am suspicious that "up to" 1MB will mean something closer to 512KB as I don't believe medina is on the Albura network but I happy to be wrong on this. I'd appreciate any feedback from users in the area.
Also, I bought a 2Wire Home Portal Modem/hub from SBC when in the States. Is this likely to work on a Spanish DSL connection? Thanks for help
Speeds about 80-90% of advertised.You´ll hit around 900 Kbps download.I had Ya.com and it was pretty stable for me. Albura Network (Red Electrica) has nothing to do with your 1MB package(except in price).Your ADSL it will be Telefonica resell. 1MB packages are available nationwide where Telefonica has networks (Ya.com works VERY closely with Telefonica). If Albura coverage was available in Cadiz province you would be able to get the 1 MB cheaper or 4Mb for around 65 Euros(unfortunately the whole province is dark).
I think your 2wire will work just fine, given it supports PPPoE(ya.com it´s the only one in the country that use it beside Telefonica) and dynamic IP.

I don´t know how this new modality of bring your own hardware works but I assume that you will receive this data in the introductory package that they´ll send you. Be prepared to wait around 4 weeks to get it. Good Luck! A lost American.
