Re: anyone want to host atheros v4.1.2.56?

uhm for sure the dwl-g520 (pci) and dwl-g650

But I guess it can be used in all 108mbps cards (not even d-links)

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Kind regards, Jellen

Yup, it's chipset-dependant (Atheros) rather than brand-dependant (D-Link). It should work with the Atheros-based hardware revisions of the DWL-G510 and DWL-G630 (the ones marketed as 54mbps cards) as well.

Hi,
Just remember:

1) BEFORE you do this,UN-INSTALL any previous D-Link drivers (using Device Manager)

2) PULL OUT the card

3) SHUT DOWN

4) Install the Atheros drivers by running Setup.exe from EXTRACT directory

5) and ONLY THEN insert the card (that's really important)

DON'T try loading the Atheros drivers with the card installed

I'm new to this wireless stuff, so please excuse me if this is a stupid question.

Does your strong advice (the bit about having to remove the card) also apply to upgrading the driver from a previous version of atheros (4.0.0.167) or only to upgrading from a previous D-link driver?

My apologies, but here is another simple question:
Are the atheros drivers designed to work under Win98SE ??

I know, WLAN & Win98 is a real pain...

Thanks for help,
Thomas

The file 4.1.2.56_Installer\ndis5x\net5211.inf says it installs win9x drivers as well. So I think you're probably in luck.

If setup.exe doesn't work for you, you can likely point the hardware wizard at this directory or right-click on net5211.inf and then click Install.
