Speedstream 6520 lag with Socom 2I've been experiencing alot of lag with alot of SCEA related online games. This just started to happen when I purchased my new modem+router (2 in 1), also known as Speedstream 6520. Now I have opened up the ports, tcp 10070-10080 and udp 10070, and I have even disabled the DMZ (first thing I did), now i'm not sure what the problem is, people just freeze on my screen then bam alot of movement, and i'm dead, it's very annoying.. |

I keep getting disconnected from games, not the server yet. And it is happening always. |

Are you able to go back to your earlier configuration/modem and see if the trouble is yours or the games you are connecting to? |

on the 6520 data transfer often stops for a couple seconds. it doesn't disconnect or give errors it just stops.
this is what's causing your lag. that's why i stopped using it the first day i got it. other people in this forum have had similar experiences. |

I have had the same problem with my 6250... stalls and hicups when playing Battlefield2. I found that by setting the 6250 to connect manually then have my d-link do the pppoe & routing, it works much better. |
|
| |
darthballs can you tell me how to do that? im very unfamiliar with routing a PPPoE...so jsut a step by step of what id have to do to connect manually with my 6520...thanks |

Take an ethernet cable and run it from the WAN port on the 6250 to the WAN port on your Router. Go into the advanced tab on the 6250 config and set the connection to manual and disable dhcp. Next, open the config for your your router and conifig the ppoe. Apply it and click connect, should be good to go. |

Thanks very much, but one thing, how I get to the config of the 6520? That is my biggest problem I think. |

Oh, and after I connect the hardwire router to the WAN port of the 6520, do I just connect my wireless router to a LAN port of the hardwire router? |

Actually that's a lot of unneeded work when a simple reset of the Bell Speedstream unit will make it ready to be used with the PPPoE from a separate Router or a single PC. Once it's reset, you do not need to go to it's Web Interface at all.

May I please ask how to reset the 6520? |

There should be a recessed Reset button on the bottom.

I tried doing the "simple reset" with the 6250 and found it doesn't work... the way I explained was the only way I could get it to work reliably. |

Well, (I'm JordieTH btw) I will try both of the methods that you guys mentioned. The only thing that worries me is that the last time I tried to get my router working, I couldn't get the web access setup to work. I think that might be due to the fact that I changed my router's IP address |

If you don't have a reset button or didn't hold it in for the correct amount of time it will not reset. You can always get a Factory Reset this way: Click for Full Size Image

Ok, guys, I'm gonna attempt to hook everything up. I'll post again when I see what happens. If I can't get my router to work I may have to ask for more help |
|
| sithboy2000 |
Ok, update. I got the routers up and running fine: great. My problem, and this is why I wanted to hook up the routers in the first place, is that when playing games online (I think possibly only FPS games) with more than one person at a time, there will be connection errors approximately every 5-10 minutes and lasting for about 1-2 minutes in the medium case scenario. This happens when my bro and I are both playing FPS games (worst case), when one is playing a FPS and one is playing a MMORPG (medium case) but not, or at least not that I could see, when we are both playing MMORPGs. Does this have to do with Bandwidth or something? Is this problem supposed to happen and not merely a bug in my system?
Advice/comments GREATLY appreciated. |

Oh, forgot to mention, both of our download rates, even when doing nothing else, are barely over 110 kb/s and generally lower. |
|

(fourth post in a row lol) Perhaps I should phone Bell, although that often turns out to be useless. |
|
| sithboy2000 |
Well, Bell did something and now it seems as if I can play two games at the same time, or at least in this session. Unfortunately, the download speeds are still 100k/s. |

Is that both PCs downloading at the same time or each PC tested while the other is not downloading or uploading? What does the sync rate and snr values show in your modem? Regards, Doctor Olds |
