If You Forget a Code, PIN, or Password
Note: Your phones 4-digit unlock code is originally set to 1234, and the 6-digit security code is originally set to 000000. Your service provider may reset the unlock code to the last 4 digits of your phone number before you
receive your phone.
If you forget your unlock code, try entering 1234 or the last 4 digits of your phone number. If that does not work, do the following at the Enter Unlock Code prompt:
If you forget your security code, SIM card PIN code, PIN2 code, or call barring password, contact your service provider.
Also does everyone realize that there is an lock/unlock code for the phone and there is also a SIM Card unlock code for the SIM Card. If you lock out your SIM you have to contact your provider for the unlock code and you must have a phone that has a capability of asking for SIM unlock code. I have a phone that I keep for SIM card management because some phone do not let you enter a SIM Unlock code and must get a new SIM from the provider.
I travel all over the world being in the Military Logistics field and I use the same phone everywhere I go. Most country I go to have the unlock code for the SIM card on the prepaid card that the SIM is attached with so that it can be unlock at anytime if for some reason the SIM is locked.
Just my two cents.

The Unlock code given in the manual is not the code that we need to unlock the phone. The 1234 unlock code is the code you can use to unlock the phone if you lock your phone (so nobody can use it). For example, when I turn off my phone, and turn it on, it's locked. You need my 4 digit code to unlock it.
That is not the same as the unlock code to allow the phone to be used with any wireless provider.
Two different codes for two completely different issues.
