Re: FIOS in Garland, Texasquote: I also think they'll hit Mesquite sometime because Sunnyvale is right next to it, and Sunnyvale is freakishly rich, or the people there are, at least.
Most of Mesquite and all of Sunnyvale (and a couple of neighborhoods in Garland south of I-30) are all SBC territory. No FIOS for them... |

I already mentioned that for Mesquite but I just wonder why this fellow thinks Mesquite or Sunnyvale are under any consideration, now or in the future, for FIOS... |

I am at the corner of Buckingham and Jupiter and noticed Mastec installing Verizon fiber on the northeast corner of this intersection recently and they have signs up along Sam Houston by North Garland High School. It could still be a year before it gets hooked up though. I am too far from the CO to get cheap Verizon DSL and am stuck with Comcasts prices. |

The current plan is to offer fios in the areas that we already serve with copper so so that we can abandon the copper lines or sell them outright, after those areas are saturated we begin to look out of franchise. |

Any word on when it will be available in the Garland/Kingsley Rd area? |

Three CATV/interweb providers in one area would be good for subscribers but very bad for Verizon's bottom line. |

Of course...hence my "distant future" comment. That Verizon FIOS rep seemed to suggest they'd eventually move outside of their franchise territory. I wouldn't be surprised if this were 5-10 years away, though. |

Well...it looks like they're finally drilling in the Country Club area, so maybe Emerald Lakes is next. I know somebody asked this a few posts ago, but any idea on when Emerald Lakes will be hit?
There was a sign up that had a phone number on it for the contractor that's doing the work in the Country Club area, so I'll give them a call tomorrow to see if they know anything, or at least know who I could contact that will give me a better answer than "we plan to service your area soon". |

Unless Verizon's area is 100% FiOS any attempt to wire a non Verizon area would cause a CHERRY-PICKING scream to be heard by every regulatory hog that slops at the public trough. |

Eastern Hills Country Club area, right? Surrounded by Lake Ray Hubbard, Centerville Rd, Broadway Blvd and Rowlett Rd. They're fast approaching I-30. There seems to be some activity on the opposite end of Garland north of Jupiter Rd & Campbell Rd. as well, according to another member posting here. |

They are wiring Country Club now, near Colonel/Marilee. My street on Surrey as well.
I hope to have service just as soon as possible. If they are still laying conduit, what kind of a time frame have other people in Garland had to light up? |

6 weeks after the orange conduit was buried in front of my house I was able to place an order. |

well, from what I can gather, the higher income areas in Garland *are* seeing FIOS first, so the city may not be done until 2008 after all...still a ways to go from what I can tell. |
