Fios with Linksys WRT54GSAnyone know how to get this up and running? I had FIOS installed today with the DLink 604 router. Works great when connected directly. However it won't work wirelessly with my Linksys WRT54GS. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Stan |

Hey bud, im in the same boat, when i use the wrt54 directly into the jack that verizon installed, i cant get onto any websites, maybe one or two, the tech on the phone tried telling me i had spyware...even after i told him that when i use my comcast connection with the same router i can go to any site...however i did come up with a short term solution but it stopped working, what i did was plugged in verizons router into the jack and then ran a cat 5 from #4 on the back of the verizon router to #4 on the back of the linksys router and that worked fine, however, once i wired my other computer directly to the verizon router, it for some reason made it so that i couldnt go to any websites on any computer and i couldnt use AOL, but i could still use AIM, weird hunh? |

It's open pppoe so make sure your router is set for pppoe and you have anything normal in the username and password fields. it's probably working with comcast because it's set for dhcp. |

so how would the set ups be? would the D-Link have the ppoe thing on with the user name and password for verizon and everything, and then how would the linksys be set up to work, and if i plugged in my desktop to the linksys instead of another port on the d-link, would the internet work right? i have afeeling that the d-link messes up when it has two computers trying to access the internet at the same time, i had a similiar problem like this before with another dlink router where when both computers try using the connection they both get no connection |

I have my linksys set to ppoe with a username and password and still no luck. are there any other settings i need to make at 192.168.1.1 to have the linksys successfully talk to the dlink?? this is driving me crazy! |

Linksys works great as the FIOS router.. just set it to pppoe and input your user information and save. |

Thanks Noc. (I registered and therefore my name changed, but I wrote the original post). I just got it working finally - I think both my Linksys and Dlink had the same mac address, would this cause the Linksys not to work if I was sending a cable from one of the ethernet ports to the 'internet' input on the linksys? i changed the mac address amonth other things, and now i'm running wirelessly. not sure exactly what fixed it, but i'm happy. oh, i also changed my linksys setup from pppoe to dhcp automatic, which also maybe could have been the problem? the dlink is set to pppoe. will i get better performance bypassing the dlink and running the cable from the wall directly to the linksys? if so, does the linksys need to be set to pppoe?
thanks, stan |

Hi, I have the techs here and they looked at mine and told me "No problem, It will work directly" Did you reset router to PPPOE ? I should be up in a few hours. I'll pickthier brains. they seem to have a clue So far the install is going good box is not as big I as I thought. Lee PS 9:47 AM I'll be back in 2 hours for a update UPDATE 12:04 All is hooked up. Waiting for the "switch" to be thrown. Testing looks good ... Cross your fingers |

Also I'm told to use the ADMIN in the PPPOE as Username .. Not sure if that helped. I used PPPOE and MTU was set for 1492. Other than that I shut down everything and unplugged , restarted. All seven computers run @ 14/1-1.3 no problems. I have version 1.0 with Firmware Version: v3.37.6 - HyperWRT 2.1b1 software for the Linksys Lee |
