[Vonage] Softphone using hardphone

I was wondering if anyone with a Vonage Softphone account has had any success getting a SIP hardphone to work with it? If so, can you make it work through NAT?

I would like to connect my Grandstream GXP2000 SIP phone directly to my router and make Vonage calls.

I know that the Vonage softphone option costs more but for various reasons I would prefer to pay the extra $10 a month and use my SIP phone.

I know that you can do this through an Asterisk server. What I want to know is if you can do it without an Asterisk server or any type of SIP Proxy.

I'm a little confused about your post so my reply might be not exactly what you're looking for, sorry if it is.

Vonage softphones work fine using SIP devices like a Sipura and should work fine with your Grandstream. As you should know from your soft phone settings, you need to enter this into your Grandstream:

SoftPhone Account: 1916675xxxx (your number here)
Password: dC5Zhxxxxx (your passwordhere)
# 916-675-xxxx (your number here)
Sip Proxy: sphone.vopr.vonage.net (this should be what you already have)

If you're behind a router with NAT and your Grandstream won't work and has a STUN setting you can use, you may need to enter a STUN setting. I didn't need to but some people say they need it. Any STUN server will work. STUN enables a device to find out its public IP address and the type of NAT service its sitting behind. STUN operates on TCP and UDP port 3478. It probably won't work with symmetric NAT found in many corporate networks.

You can try:
stun.fwdnet.net:3478 or stun.fwd.net

and see if that works. If STUN doesn't allow your VOIP phone to work, you may need to set the phone in the DMZ in your router settings.
