No, you want a "patch" cable, not a "crossover". |

I work for Comcast, thought I could lend some info from the man. We have a program called Auspice that allows us to look at a few diagnostic points. This includeds forward (or download) frequency, as well as return (or upload). The program also allows us to see how clean the signal getting to the modem is. Now, as far as being able to say to the guy on the phone that your modem has been going off line every 10 minutes they can see that to. The sb 3100 "will work" according to the company, however there are more current ones than that. Copy and paste the following into your browser. » 192.168.100.1/signal.htm Your signal to noise ratio should be above 30, prefferably between 30 and 36. Power level on the downstream should be between +5 and -10 db. Now the upstream power level is the most critical. That should be below 50. If you've got all those levels in line with what they should be. Either the modem is bad or there's some spyware involved. Iwould request a laptop test, or have a freind bring one by to check it out. curt |

Curt, we checked his signals and they are fine (loop up a few posts). I think he has a bum MODEM and I already suggested that he trade that one in for another one. He is leasing the MODEM. |
