Apple → [X] Safari login problem

I'm having trouble logging into a website with Safari. Used to, I could login no problem to this site »blackboard.etsu.edu/index.html until a short while back. When I would click "Login", a new window would come up and I would enter my user name and password. No problems. Suddenly, when I click "Login" Safari does nothing. The status bar will start to go blue like it is going to work, but instead hangs and goes nowhere. If I try to reload the page it won't work. I can't even navigate to another page. I don't get the "beach ball", so I don't think Safari is hanging, but I have to quit it and relaunch to regain functionality. I've trashed the preferences and that does not help. I've rebooted as well and repaired permissions. I'm having to use Firefox to get into the site and it works without issue. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm able to get the login/password dropdown window. You might try emptying your cache, and seeing if that helps.

Try deleting the folder /Users/You/Library/Safari/Icons and relaunch Safari. Also try unchecking "Block Popups" just in case.

Thanks for the tips. I tried them and still not working :-(. This is the first real "problem" I've had out of Safari. I'm considering upgrading to Tiger very soon. Should that "fix" it? If so, I can probably stick it out and just upgrade here shortly.

Probably... as I said, I had no problem getting to the login screen.
