I'm amazed...

At how many parents worry about what their kid is doing on the Internet, yet let them keep a PC in their room. Put it in the living room. Pay attention, maybe.

wait wait, are you saying that parents should monitor their children's internet access if they're concerned about them going to porn sites? HAHAHAHA what a pipe dream... It's not a parents job to raise their kids, it's the governments job to do that!

Unfortunately, a large percentage of parents are to selfish with their own time to bother with parental duties. They'd rather offload their responsibilities onto the schools, the government, etc. Do you really expect these same model parents to directly monitor their children's computer use? Hell, these asshats can't be bothered to meet their childrens' friends.

Karl, I could not agree with you more on this topic. Did our forefathers have in mind a government that monitor and controls the people? Or did they have in mind a government monitored and controlled by the people?

This is another liberal democrapist socialist attempt at control of the people. In the name of protecting you from yourself we will tax you, it is for your own good. The money raised will be used to purchase cigars from a country that has and continues to break more human rights in the northern hemisphere than any other. We do this for your own good and to protect the children since you can not.

and to add to you ferricOxide, parents also push their parental duties off onto the rest of us as well.

"Ban television programs so MY kids can't watch it"
"Ban content on the internet so MY kids can't surf to it"
"Ban nudie magazines from being sold so MY kids don't buy them"

Everything is being banned in the name of children these days when in reality, parents don't want to raise their own children.

I am 34. My father was a farmer and a single parent. Yet somehow, he was able to raise his kids properly, and also knew when were were doing something wrong. Hmm, maybe is payed attention to his kids and wanted them to be raised to know right from wrong.

Further, in today's society, many parents want their kids shileded from all this stuff so they don't see it. Somehow, they think that this will make their children better and more wholesome (sp? -but you know what I meant)

Instead of banning everything, why not use some of this stuff as a learning tool. Sit down with kids and use some of these TV programs to teach them what's they feel is right or wrong, good or bad.

What this all boils down to is taking away the freedoms of law abiding adults in "the name of children" which really equates to "in the name of getting me the votes of 'concerned' parents" - it's nothing but a bunch of sh*t.

Maybe this is why Michael Jackson acts like a kid.. afterall, society wants us all to live in their world.

No, there is actually enough blame to go around these days. Republicans come from it at a moral issue, and libbys come at it from a "we know better than you" issue. Remember, it takes a village to raise your children.

It's what's behing the drive that matters. It's all a ploy to get votes.

Let me tell you something too. When did politicians decide that office was a place for them to fight for their own issues? When did being a politician change from a public service/duty/honor to a carreer?

Our senator, an idiot at that, Norm Coleman (R) Minnesota has come out in support of lifting the ban of Federal money for Stem Cell Research. Why? he is quoted as saying "becuase I have had two children with diseases that could have benefited from this reasearch" - SO, holding office is a place to gight for personal beliefs now instead of what the constituentcy wants. I am sick of this B.S. crap they spew.

These politicians are not fighting for the better interest of the people, rather, they are fighting for what's best for them; be it re-election, pet projects that benefit them or their buddies, or anything that has ME in it. They campaing on a good promise to work for the people, then when in office, they couldn't give a rats ass any more. Try getting one of them to respond to you.

Well.. with the Bush crime family running things.. he's on his second usurped term. The Republicans have only themselves to blame for the direction of the country. They have all the chances they want to unscrew things. They can change ANYTHING they want now. So blame them if you don't like how things are going now.

Gee.. they go after a man for having an elicit affair yet they invade a country that was not a threat.

Moral highground my god damned ass!

If it weren't for the liberal thinking there wouldn't be an America.

Republicans and conservatives love porn just as much. The just try to hide it more.

Chew on that one.

Lest you forget that it was two democrats who spearheaded labeling just about all media with parental advisories in the 80's (they actually wanted to ban a lot of content straight out, but got shot down and had to settle with the advisories). Who were they? Joseph Lieberman and Tipper Gore. I believe they were on their moral high-horses then. But there is PLENTY of blame to go around on both sides.
