Re: My Terrible Experience with 3Web

Yeah - 3web is great, until you have to phone them for something...

I signed up with them last month, and have had no trouble. They seem to use DHCP with their west coast cable service, because I didn't have to enter any passwords or anything. I just immediately got an IP when I hooked up the modem. Also, on the west coast, you currently do NOT need to use their connection software at all, unless you need to configure an @3web.com e-mail address.

I'm just dreading the day I have to phone them for a MAC address change or something like that :X

Sorry to hear that!
I actually got the service installed pretty fast.
I bought new modem on ebay ($30 + shipping), received it on Monday.
Late Tuesday, I signed up online using Telus.
Wednesday, I received an email with a bunch of questions in the morning, some of them related to the modem (MAC, Customer Number,..). I replied the email right after I got home in the evening.
I received an email on Thursday said a technician would come to my house on Sunday afternoon to install the service.
He, a Shaw technician, came by on time. We had some trouble to hookup the cable, but finally we got signal, and connected to the Internet.
