Dude, it is CitiBank, one of the biggest in the world. Plus, let me add, they asked for CC# in the automated menu, then when i got to operator they asked for my moms maden name to verify it was me, however it wa sjust to activate new card, so maybe they do ask for SS# number in a real account related call. On a side note, I will agree with your original post, providing last four digits of SS# is not that big of a deal to me, but some are just anal about it for there own personal reasons. Those who are though, particularly there CC#'s, at this point it makes no difference anymore when the card processors themselves are getting compromised.
