<description><![CDATA[flubar posted : imagine you are a european.<br><br>that means that either your country has been blown up by the united states or the united states has created your political system or that the united states has used your territory as a potential nuclear battlefield or that the united states has subsidized your economy to the point of controlling the economic life of your society.<br><br>that leads to resentment and also a desire to have some countervailing leverage.<br><br>this is just one more issue like the international criminal court or the kyoto agreement or trading with terrorist states.<br><br>i think that that the europeans are deliberately taking positions that they know the united states wont accept, and that they don't believe in themselves so they will have something to barter.<br><br>these are cynical shriveled up empires that have left a hideous legacy in places as diverse as iraq or vietnam: they don't believe in collective security, they don't believe in spreading democracy.   <br><br>they think that people who do believe that are idiots.<br><br> ]]></description>
