zemane0 posted : It doesn't really have to do with the OS, or anything in your machine or router.

I have the same problem. The speed appears as if it is dropping, but what really happens is that the internet connection is cut. It appears that it is dropping because the k/s ratio the program shows is like the average k/s of the last few seconds, i.e.:

(k/s@(t-3secs) + k/s@(t-2secs)+ k/s @(t-1secs)+ k/s @(t))/4

where t is the current time. So, for every t where the connection is cut, it will add 0 to the average, until all of the factors are zero.

How I know the connection is cut?

When it happens, I cannot connect or ping any web site. But I am able to ping the router and connect to the router admin page.

I the admin page, I can renew the IP. It is the same as when there is no router and you type 'ipconfig /renew'. But in this case, the router is requesting the IP to the ISP.

When I do that, the page is never refreshed.

To go back to business I need to disconnect and connect the power cable in the cable modem. With that the modem connects to the ISP to request a new IP.

The fact that it only happens for me when I'm using DC++ tells me that the ISP is monitoring something like the number of incoming socket connections to my IP and the amount of data uploaded from me. When it reaches a certain number it just drops me.

I don't think it is a limitation with the download, because I can download large files from the web at high speeds.

Now, I'm trying to find this documented anywhere on their agreement. I'm using roadrunner through brighthouse.

Thelonius5 posted : Ok, I talked to my friend and he said he has the same problems as me. Now I suspect it can be something with my line. Im not sure if the problem is somehow connected with this because I had this problem with line for long time but the dc++ problem surfaced only recently.
