I assume you're talking only about TV since you're posting from a bellsouth domain???? Are you talking only analog TV? Because my analog TV has always functioned. It's the analog picture quality, digital channels, and HSI that I have problems with. |

no we have digital tv and we have cable modem. I am at a family members house is why it says bellsouth. And I would also like to add that just like any other company they have problems but so far I would have to give mediacom a A+. |

Your probably only 1 of maybe 5 people in the US that would give Mediacom an A+ rating.
If I had to grade Mediacom, I would give them a C-. I've had them for six years now, and I have yet to get a clear cable picture (analog). The digital cable is ok, but all the ads are really annoying, and the tuner is extremely slow.
As for the broadband, now that they have corrected the speed issues here in IL, it seems pretty stable. However, it was a VERY LONG road getting here. I still suffer from the occasional outtage for no reason.
Now, there are rumors that Mediacom HS is filtering certain ports, or maybe shaping the traffic on certain protocols. I can't confirm this, but to me it could be believable.
I could probably write an essay on how bad the techs in this area are at their job. I had to install my own cable modem because the installer wanted to get home for dinner. Every service call I've made in the past has either been cancelled, or moved without informing me. Gotta say, though, that thanks to their $20 credit program for missed service calls, I've gotten my fair share of cheap months of service. |

Where did your 1 in 5 theory come from? With 425,000 internet customers I find that statistic a bit skewed. |

After reading alot of complaints on mediacom if the service is so bad why are so many of you staying with them. Something has to be good there or you wouldnt. I know that the price is not bad and it is a whole lot better that directv anytime the wind blows they go out. Customer service is great and the service men alot of time are over worked and under paid just like every where else in the world so again I will say THANKS MEDIACOM.... |

A lot of us stay with Mediacom because when it comes to HSI, they are the only thing available. Where I live, the only options for HSI is Mediacom. |

It is skewed because it was meant to be funny. Apparenly you didn't get it.
If you question what I say about Mediacom, I invite you to look them up on www.bbb.org. Read through this forum. They aren't the best thing out there. While I understand that many companies have problems, most of those companies will try to do something about it.
So far, Mediacom only gives me trouble, and doens't do much to fix it. |

granted it may have been a long road, but does this not acknowledge that they fixed your problem. How can you say that they don't do anything to fix a problem after stating they fixed yours? |

I don't consider the problems fixed. I may have a 5mbit connection, but it still drops at various times. Did you not see the statement after that? "I still suffer from the occasional outtage for no reason."
Be sure you use the whole quote next time.
I still have very fuzzy analog channels. The digital tuner takes forever to do anything. I still get disconnects. If it rains, or the wind blows, the cable is the first thing to go out. |

In most cases. Mediacom is the only company that even thinks about providing internet service in small town areas with old cable systems. If Mediacom wasn't there you would have nothing. Mediacom is continously working to improve the cable infrastructure in areas such as yours. But you do have options. It is not 'required' that you have internet service period. It is a luxury, not a necessity. As stated if the service is so absolutely poor and unstable, use dial up. Granted it is slow it is rather reliable. |

If your cable goes out every time something happens, they either need to properly ground your cable line or run new line, cable should not be affected by weather, it's one of the main advantages over dish, it's why I don't have dish. How many tech's have you had out and have they replaced the line? |

The cable from the pole to my house has been replaced twice. It has been tested at least 14 times over the past years. |

I'd say that JDPower (for what it's worth) also grades Mediacom a C- or D, depends on how you read their scale. Last place.. » www.jdpower.com/cc/telec ··· ndex.jsp |

Amy started this thread to say Thank You to all of the Mediacom employees. That's really nice She stated her personal feelings about Mediacom, she did not say they are the greatest company ever or something like that. I lot of posts in this thread don't make sense. What are you trying to do? Maybe Amy was lucky, maybe that area does not have any problems...maybe there are some people happy with Mediacom service [gasp]? If it's going to make you feel better you can post in » Rants, Raves, and Praise |

I see my last post was removed (rather quietly I might add). To re-iterate my last statement:
Why, in this forum, is it OK to RAVE about Mediacom, but one is not allowed to RANT about Mediacom? |
|
| |
Rave? She only said 'thanks'. |

Did you read her statement? That's more like RAVE (PRAISE) than just a simple thanks.
Why is it, each time someone in this forum has something negative to say about Mediacom, you attack them and suggest they move on to another forum?
I'm glad someone in this forum actually had decent service from Mediacom. It's few and far between to see someone actually praising Mediacom for something. However, if you let the good stuff in the forum, you should also let the bad stuff in the forum. |

Also it's easier for people to complain and bitch than to say thanks. People will always complain if they have problems, but if everything is OK you won't hear about it. It's human nature I guess. Read the forum rules BTW. Now imagine what this forum would look like without some restrictions. |
