My teenager has already extracted a promise from me to go to the opening of the new Manhattan store in the old GM building.

Just my luck it will open in the dead of winter...

I was number 167 to get in, got a standard black t-shirt with the Apple logo and "The Oaks" printed on it. They have added a new section to the Genius bar called "The Studio" where you can get advice on all the Pro apps and using iLife. They also are the designated section for anyone who buys the ProCare package.

The store itself is about 3/4 the size of the Northridge store that I usually go to. It's pretty crowded with about 250 people in it. I would have to say that there were probably about 700-800 people waiting in line to get in.

I purchased a black nano and lanyard headphones for my significant other and some lanyard headphones for me.

All in all a good way to spend a Saturday morning!
