Re: Sony won't recant.

I've had no problems with iTunes, and their DRM is about as fair as one can hope from a corporate entity any more.
And that's a problem: when the best we can say is "well, it doesn't suck as hard as the other stuff." What happened to expecting things to be good instead of merely "not as bad as the alternatives"?

Bleah.

Agreed. It does suck.

At least someone saw that downloading songs legally was the wave of the future and jumped on it.

If the dirtbags in the record industry had done a pay per download service a long time ago, with no DRM, they could have eaten Apple's lunch...

I think that personally has stemmed back even since Election 2000. Not to bash parties & sides, but that election was a clash of the mediocre giants. Not many really were "thrilled" with either nomineee, but we just chose that we felt would give us the least indigestion when we voted. Since then, I have noticed that many of my decisions don't boil down to "what I would like", but more, "what would I hate the least".

Further back than that. At a previous employer, our internal slogan was "we suck less". That was before 2000.
