What makes it right is that they earned it.

I worked hard to get where I am. If I wanted to work harder, I could make even more money and be more successful. I choose not to do so, since I want to spend time with my family.

The CEO of our company spent many years spending little time with his family and children. Same with the GC (to whom I report). The relationship between the GC and one of his sons is less than stellar to put it mildly. I've seen their interaction in person. No one forced these two to choose the path they did. They wanted it. They wanted to succeed, regardless of the cost.

For example, our GC and CEO and Chairman, all come in to work at aout 7:00 in the morning. They almost all leave at about 6:30-7:00 p.m. or later. I put in far fewer hours, so how can I begrudge them their higher positions of responsibility and the correspondingly higher salaries.

Other than a few anomalies, the execs that are in those types of positions earned those salaries and their lofty positions. Your failures and the failures of others have nothing to do with these executives. Don't expect handouts and charity if you are an able-bodies person.

This is what makes the US such a great place. We live in a society where people can pull themselves up using their own bootstraps. YOU get to choose your destiny. YOU get to choose whether you succeed or fail. YOU are YOUR OWN responsibility.

All this may sound harsh, but I have no sympathy for those bemoaning their fates, when they can't get off their own lazy butts to make it in this world.

Perhaps if they made themselves a more attractive asset to employers they wouldn't be making minimum wage. Pretending that you actually care about your job when in front of customers makes you more employable that 99% of the people making minimum wage.

And how does someone making a million dollars have anything to do with why someone else is making minimum wage (actual reasoning please, non of that "because they could be paying everyone else more BS" because good executives are going to bring in much more money that what they're being paid)

I recall reading an article a while back that talked about Comcast's corporate retention rate, which is evidently much higher than average. The interesting thing is, the average executive salary is actually lower than their counterparts in other industries. Now as for those who say this is a fair or unfair salary, that's going to be for a market to decide. Are such salaries unusual? No they are not. Have a look at the executive compensation proxies of companies like Reebok and AT&T and you'll get a sense of perspective.

Now do we still, despite its less than full relevance to this SEC filing, have a right to be unhappy about our rates? Yes, the company is taking in profits vastly in excess of any similar industry and that's the most telling sign. The solution isn't really to say as much in a forum like this, but to remember when competition comes knocking, that you consider signing up. It might be satellite, or fiber, but in whatever form it comes, it's only going to be those who leave and take the competition's options, that begin to have the most telling effect on a business practice. As long as demand is high, they can and will charge whatever they want. When forced to compete to keep your business, prices go down (to some degree).

So be patient. Competition is coming. Obviously they know the money is there in the marketplace. And sooner or later all things Comcast has created for itself, will come home to roost.

In the case of corporate chief tans, shareholders are willing to pay top dollar for those who have the track record and expertise to manage a large corporation and generate a desirable return in the form of stock appreciation or dividends, or both. Obviously, every company is different...you've got to look at the size of the company, what kind of revenue they bring in, and a number of other factors. Comcast Corp. has signed three top executives to new contracts that will provide each with an annual salary over $1 million, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Comcast said it signed contracts Monday with Executive Vice President, Co-Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer John R. Alchin; Executive Vice President David L. Cohen; and Executive Vice President and Co-Chief Financial Officer Lawrence S. Smith.

Alchin will make $1,025,000 per year, Cohen will make $1.2 million and Smith will make $1,225,000. All three will be eligible for bonuses up to 125 percent of their base salaries.
When you write your next check for your Comcast bill, a nice piece of it will be going to these 3 guys.
