Hi everyone. Thanks for the info on these boards.
As a followup to this thread: »
··· 414/964a , I thought I'd post further info on these inexpensive SOC type routers. Simon_P's last post is correct. The details are:
V2
Firmware: 1.08 (Jan 2005)
AMRISC 9000 Processor
IC+ IP175A 5 port 10/100 switch
512KB Flash
2MB SDRAM
5V/2A Power Supply
V3
Firmware: 1.00 (Oct 2005)
AMRISC 9041 Processor
IC+ IP175C 5 port 10/100 switch
512KB Flash
2MB SDRAM
9V/1A Power Supply
Both units test the same:
WAN-LAN ~40Mb/s
LAN-LAN >90Mb/s
Great performance for such a low end unit. No probs with the usual P2P client issues so far. Port forwarding/triggering works fine, although disabling port forwarding & triggering at the same time (restart required) leads to a crash on the V2. I put heatsinks on the processor & switch ICs & placed vertically for improved cooling.
The code from both firmware is very similar, but I have not crossflashed the V2 with V3 firmware. It appears VxWorks like. 9041 looks like a die shrunk 9000, so V3 firmware on V2 may work. Unfortunately, 512K flash is too small for ucLinux. Newer routers like USR 800x are using the 10000 core.
Happy routing...
