I just found this site and thought everyone talking about FIOS was interesting. Currently I work at Verizon and install FIOS to the customer premise everyday. If anyone has any install questions I'd be happy to answer them...... truthfully.

Take Care Any chance you might have info about FiOS coming to Bayonne (NJ 07002) any time soon? *Shudders from the horror known as Optimum Online.* |

In general, if you don't see any pins in the coming-soon map anywhere near you then you'll be in for a long wait. |

For the past week there have been quite a few Verizon trucks stringing some kind of cable on the poles on the main drag near my house in Marlboro, NJ.
Wonder if this could be FIOS? |
|
| |
I would think it is. I've seen many Verizon trucks stringing wiring through poles around the area. |

Re: FIOS availability map now onlineI wanted to enter my approximate area, since it is newly turned on. My install date is currently set for 7/26/06. I'm sorry, but I'm not willing to post my real address on this or any other board. "Coming Soon" doesn't work for me. Even putting in the exact address, all I get is a bad address error message. ========================================================= Edit - I stopped entering the address, and simply zoomed/centered on the map, and was able to set a pin. |

confused. All you have to do is enter your zip, zoom in a bit more and click to place a pin wherever you want to (apart from your exact location). |

I'm hoping that you posted while I was adding my edit. I posted the original comment after trying to use an address in the box to locate the pin. That failed, miserably. After posting, I tried again, since I'm pretty stubborn. My second try was using the method you suggested, and that was successful. I have to say - the instructions on the maps are not the most intuitive. I used to be considered smart. ============================================== Edit 7/22/06 - I guess I really should add my location to the "available" map instead. As I type, there is a nice young man running a ditch witch across my lawn, and we've discussed how they will hook in to the existing house wiring at the other end of the house. |

Tradewind I'm currently placing fiber optics lines in millstone and marlboro(Rt 79) for freehold central office It should be be available in the late fall. Robertsville central office is not being wired yet and that also serves marlboro. Good luck we just put it up three miles from my house and I can't get it. LineDawg |

When will FIOS be available in the south part of Garland, TX? I used to have Verizon. When I established service with them 3 years ago, they said that DSL was available in my area. Later, they told me it wasn't. I switched to Comcast for phone and high speed Internet.
I found out that my neighbors on either side of my house have Verizon DSL. I called Verizon back inquiring about switching back. They still told me that DSL isn't available. It has something to do with my phone line. How can my neighbors get DSL and I can't?
I love Comcast high speed Internet but it is considerately more expensive than DSL. Verizon just acted like they could care less about trying to get my business back by not trying to get me DSL. They said if I install a second line to my home that I could get DSL on that line. If I did that it would be just as expensive as Comcast. |

Then why would you want FiOS, its also Verizon? The CO might be too far from your home (as it was for me so I waited for cable and now went from that a year ago to FiOS and ) I'm THRILLED with it! Comcast should be much faster than DSL! FiOS is 20/5 here for the same price as the 15/2 was. 44.95 and the same cost as my old cable modem (OOL) was. G/L |

I'm less than one mile from the Verizon CO. Neighbors on either side of me can get DSL. I heard FIOS is great but was miffed at Verizon for not adequately explaining why I can't get DSL when neighbors can. Enjoy Comcast but paying the price for it. |

Re: FIOS availability map now online - Denton, TX 76209For those that may have been waiting, FiOS is now available in the east side of Denton, TX (76209) - not just in the South part of town. The install tech told me he was worried since I was the first person to be activated on that segment of fiber. He wasn't sure it was going to be active yet. My green pin is stuck on the map... |

Any chance we'll see a "Fios spotted" map?
While driving around lately I've seen lots of telltale coils on the poles and large beige boxes (essex and morris counties in NJ). |

Yeah it is one pin per person, the assumption is you'd only know about fios coming soon for your own address. |
