Nforce.nl, not much for reviews though.

Newzbin.com is an indexing site for newsgroups, and there's a comment system for indexed posts. It's free to read the comments, but you have to pay to post.

i hope that doesn't kill this thread. i was hoping that others had some favs that they would share.

vcdquality tracks what scene release groups do, not whats posted on usenet. there is far more on usenet than what is discussed on vcdquality.

I understand that vcdquality doesn't show all that is available on usenet. I understand that there is a difference between a site like vcdquality that shows what is released by different release groups and a site like newzbin that is an indexing site.

Comments (that others make regarding the quality)
Date of release
Video Rating
Audio Rating
Movie Rating (this usually isn't as important to me as the audio and video rating)
IMDB (info and movie trailer link provided)
and then they allow you to search...
Search IRC
Search Newsgroups (direct links to newzBin and binnews is provided)
you can even download Covers or Buy it Online!

i am looking for similar sites that provide this information so you don't have to download the actual release to see the quality, just in case a sample is not provided for by the poster.

A lot of posts have NFOs and most NFOs have pretty much all that information in them. You can usually get a feel for the quality of the release by the total size of the files. A JPG would take a lot of work. Maybe you should start that service.

the scene is actually pretty organized and that is the only reason something like VCDQuality is possible. the independent stuff on usenet is not part of an organized enough structure for this to be easily done.

i suppose a site like newzbin could implement these features but the sheer volume of what is posted on usenet would make it a rather large task to continually take on every day. remember in a single day there might be a dozen or two scene releases but there are hundreds if not thousands of posts on usenet every day.

on a side note, as i was looking over all the posts i was reminded of a site that came before all of them. anybody remember isonews? the last time i looked at it was when it got seized because they were selling mod chips. well apparently the site is still alive... »www.theisonews.com/index.php

there may be sites like vcdQ but in other languages, i once seen a german site... but since they post mostly releases in foreign lingo, it gets tough to follow english releases...
