Re: Dallas/Fort Worth Metro Vol. III

In the last couple of days I noticed doubled up locals around Channel 660 (660-664, something like that, not home right now) in my area (North Dallas, 75248).

Does "digital simulcast" mean that it's a better picture for folks without HD?

Looks like they have added the digital simulcast of a few local channels in Mckinney as well. They are located in the 250's. Maybe they can get all the other analog channels up soon. Should we expect these to remain in this channel range, or will they simply replace the existing lower channels once testing is complete?
Don't know. I hope they are but I wouldn't hold my breathe.

Still waiting for definite date on Dallas.
The Time Warner Onboarding Website for employees became active May 30. Also, with recent news of Adelphia trying to get things pushed through:
»Adelphia Aims to Speed up Sale

Only time will tell. I'm getting pretty pumped up about the changeover.
The plans they have for Commercial accounts seem very nice already. I can only guess on Residential services. I do know I have family in Houston with Time Warner and they have had it for a long while with very limited issues if any.

it'll probably take a miracle to get it added.

with Time Warner taking over (i don't think they have a deal in place for espn 2 anyway), i would think that hdnet and hdnet movies would be added first.

even if they did light up espn2, they'll have to take it away when TWC comes in, right?

What Comcast channel will the World Cup be playing on? The USA team will be playing their first game this coming Tuesday.

Are you looking at the web-based channel guide (which doesn't list TNT-HD either), or by flipping through the channels? Are you in a one wire or two wire system?

I live in Euless and it is one wire. I have searched through the program guide on my 6208 DVR, but I didn't find any soccer listings for the world cup much less the USA team. I believe the game is suppose to be broadcast on ESPN2. I was hoping that someone else had better luck than I in finding it. I would prefer the game to be in HD, but analog would be better than nothing at all.

Why on earth are you still using a DCT6208 on a single-wire system?

It does not matter if Time Warner is taking over some time in the future. Right NOW we are Comcast customers and we are entitled to receive espn2HD since Comcast has an agreement in place. We pay our bills to Comcast now not to TW.

I couldn't agree more concerning the displeasure with Comcast!

Here I sit Saturday morning watching World Cup action with a beautiful picture on ABCHD, seething that we here in DFW will be missing a great many matches that would be on ESPN2HD . . .

By the way, I've noticed for some time that there have been very brief audio dropouts that have been regularly occurring on ABCHD. Have others been experiencing the same?

Re: Comcast Dallas Channel change

Well my video cameras were working great on 76 and 78 until the last few months when they started moving things around. Now if I use these channels for my cameras,I lose some HDTV and on demand. Same with 70.

Any idea what free A channels I can use now to distribute my security cameras thru the house without affecting my cable.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was hooking up a commercial business customer with expanded basic yesterday and we turned it to Channel 23 in Dallas for them to watch World Cup in spanish.
(I'm assuming it was the same, not into sports much.)
Even on that channel I was hearing the audio cut in/out.

Re: Comcast Dallas Channel change

Kcharg may have a better idea of what is going on with channel lineups and such. He's pretty good with keeping up to date on what he can. We'll see if he checks this soon for response on possible channels to use.

That will be something nice for when Dallas market goes single cable. The second cable (B-side) will be great for secondary uses like video cameras, dedicated internet lines, and such.
If live in single line area already maybe a secondary line could help on issues like this.
I've been in many houses that ran cable, satellite, video cameras.

With cable technology changing as much as it has even just recently more and more services will be provided on that single cable. Like Internet, Video (Digital - HD), CDV (VoIP), digital phone, and even more. These are many reasons cable companies are looking for alternatives to free up as much bandwith on that cable to help any possible issues. With services on cable like especially VOD the video cameras and satellite trying to use same cable could cause intermittent issues.

Even though I am somewhat newer to this field it is pretty exciting what the possibilites are for the future of Cable.

The only channels that are free'd up right now would be 70,76, and 78 of which 76 is the Internet Channel (Frequency 537Mhz). Also anything above 78 on our cable plant would be free because in most of Dallas the a-side goes up to 550MHz.

So is there any chance of us getting ESPN2-HD during the World Cup? I thought the Time Warner move would make things better but if that is what is costing us getting ESPN2HD then I say bring back Comcast.

I called the Comcast number yesterday and asked if they were going to carry ESPN2HD. The CSR said she recalled seeing a memo saying that they were going to turn it on for the World Cup, but didn't know exactly when. She was going to research it and call me back. I didn't hear back.
Unfortunately, even if I could have watched the game in HD, it still would have looked like crap. Can't blame Comcast for that.

Re: Dallas/Fort Worth Metro Vol. III

I heard Comcast and WWE struck a deal for the WWE 24/7 video on demand subscription service, does anyone here know when we'll be able to get that?

I'll ask around about this. I for one also am a WWE fan and think that this would be a great addition to our line-up as well as ESPN-2 HD. I'll ask about both today.
