[AZ] Cox buys CableAmerica

A report in the East Valley (Phoenix, AZ) says Cox is set to buy CableAmerica's Az operations for an undisclosed amount of money. CA has about 75,000 customers (in Arizona, Missouri and Michigan), with some overlapping service with Cox in the city of Mesa.

The sale is expected to close by mid-2006 with the transition of the facilities, assets and customers to Cox to be completed by the end of this year.

The sale is contingent on approvals by federal regulators and by Mesa and Pinal County, Johnson said.

Here is the link. Cox is only buying the AZ operation, and that makes lots of sense given AZ is one of the flagship operations. »www.eastvalleytribune.co ··· ty=56839

They offered a second cable source in parts of Mesa, and had other small city systems, kinda like Cable One.

I hope this happens quick. Still once they buy them, the network is still set up for 3M down and 512 up. They'll really need to do alot to get that up to 6.

On a side note CableAmerica actually disconnected my internet for abuse. They put me on some virus-mode limiting me until I can call tomorow morning.

I found this on Cox's Limitations of Service web page.
60 gig cap, that's crap!!!

3. Maximum monthly consumption cap 60 gigabytes downstream; 15 gigabytes upstream

It is a tool to inhibiting bandwidth hogs. If you routinely use more than the cap, look in to business level services. If you occasionally go over, it has been PAST PRACTICE to over look it, unless network issues result.
