Hmm. Lamune (currently airing), I watch it, but I'm not impressed with it, it's sort of 'been done' and except for the seaside setting...I have not read any manga for this. The incompetent nice-guy's got a motorcycle that doesn't run, they go to school, go to the garden, eat lunch/dinner at her mother's restaurant and have flashbacks about when they were kids (and life was better but put them into the situation they are in today).....
Azumanga Daioh should be in there, a series about nothing at all, boring day-to-day life at HS.
Futokoi Alternative should also be mentioned
Perhaps you didn't watch the whole thing in Lamune, |spoiler: like the last few episodes when the main character and the girl start to really get close, then each one ends up in the hospital one at a time, sparking something in each other... |
I kinda got bored of series like Azumanga Daioh and Fukatoi Alternative after awhile (they were funny okay, but didn't keep my interest for long), especially after seeing what Lamune, Canvas2, To Heart2, Shuffle!, and Da Capo Second Season had to offer (all pretty much the same thing but in different flavors).
I have not seen the end of Lamune as I am watching the C1 fansubs, so, perhaps the love story will blossom.
I sort of got into Azumanga since my daughter liked it. The stories were sort of predictable, but kids could relate to it and that was the intent from the director.
Futokoi had great potential, the evil-GM-squid thing screwed it up, just think if his father had left a unsolved case that he actually had to become a detective to solve instead....and crushing 2 years into 13 episodes is not an advantage...
As for the rest of those mentioned, not being a girl's anime specialist, I will leave to you, but I'll see if can 'find' them to take a look at....
