Good choices. The only thing I'd suggest doing is shopping around a bit more for prices, Newegg has the motherboard for $8 cheaper and the CPU for $4 cheaper. Of course, knowing Newegg, you'll get raped on shipping costs, so it will probably be a wash in final cost.

Ideas for a harddrive would be welcome....SATA about 200-300 gig and do I need a controller board for this drive?

The SATA controller is built into the board

The 250G Caviar is giving me great performance at a realy good price.
