Separate IssuesHey, you don`t need to be a techhead to understand that if you build a better system, the hackers will crack it eventually.
Competence of IT staff is an issue, yes, but it is a separate one from the commission of the crime by the perpetrator, and the instigation of that crime by the companies who paid him to do it.
Where I come from this is called organized crime. Its time prosecutors started utilizing the appropriate statutes. |

Unfortunately, there are many issues involved. The "Hackers," who probably just bought the bot of of somebody was to blame for the problems. But the hospital could have had a somewhat competent IT department, all that hacker needs is one uneducated staff member of the hospital to open the door for him. Every business, hospital, school and home user needs to have a more educated view of the world of hacking, phishing, etc. The gullibility of people helps hackers to overcome the most prepare and best build systems. I have seen it happen many times. |
