I believe that a-squared free is the only free one out there.

... ewido also has a free version, they've expanded coverage to more than trojans ... I use both, on-demand only ... and BOClean users all seem to love the product, so it's a safe bet you'll be satisfied if you go that route ...

Seems like I remember seeing a recent post of a test that showed Ewido WAY near the bottom.(or was that a wmf test?) I think Ewido is still a great anti-spyware/adware app but not so sure of it's anti-virus abilities let alone it's anti- trojan ability.

And to the poster above you, I'm not so sure NOD32 is known for it's anti-trojan capabilities either.

... they've never said they were an anti-virus app, I don't know where that came up in the conversation ... from their website:

Features of ewido anti-malware

Anti-Virus programs offer insufficient protection against urgently growing threats like Trojans, Worms, Dialers, Hijackers, Spyware and Keyloggers.

That's where the protection of ewido anti-malware starts and supplements existing security applications to a complete security system, because only a complete security system works effectively.

... a simple trip through their website might answer some more questions ... as for detection rates, I have no opinion - I've seen cases made for and against almost every product out there ... all I know is it plays nice with my other apps and my system is clean as the proverbial whistle ... YMMV ...
