Rhythms Connection Up In Chicago (Mt.Greenwood)

I live on the south side of Chicago, 107th and Kedzie area. My connection is still up and running. I have not checked the Worldcom website to see if I am one of the supposed areas retaining their service.

Rhythms is my only option, well the only ones that would give me service at my distance, 15,000 feet. Too many trees for Sprint BBD and Ameritech just Sux ass!

Please reply if you still have your service on or know anything about this Worldcom thing.

Do a 'tracert' in the DOS window and you should be able to see if you are going through the uunet routers now. I am in the Philly area and I was switched to the uunet backbone. Work pretty well.

Thanks

Same here - I am in the sox park area and my Rhythms line is still up.

Yes Ameritech does suck - big time. I have one of their DSL lines now and it has been down 80% of the time. When I call - they always do the same thing - send a guy out with a truck to check the box outside.

Hopeing my DSL-CO is one that WCOM bought out. I would imigine it is - but ya never know.
Checked a few pings and I get a lot of Exodus Commnications and Cable & Wireless USA - but no UUNET.

Just checked WCOMs web site - it says "Service Should Continue Without Interruption"
This is awsome news!! I could tell Ameritech to go away.
Then again - I better wait til everything is offical.
Best of luck to yo in Mt. Greenwood - I think your chances of being picked up by WCOM are great. I would imigine that they are buying the Chicago area as a whole.
Wishing you the Best

Hey there Basset, ... I lived in the Port my whole life. I just moved out here 3 years ago. Anyway, How did you determine that Worldcom is keeping your CO open?

I checked my customer # from Megapath on the WCOM site. Take a look at WCOM's site - there is a link that says Rhythms update, from there - enter your Customer Identification Number. Mine was a 6 digit number.
Ah someone else from the neighborhood. Funny, I have run across 4 other people from Bridgeport on these forums.
Small world.
