[Wired] BEFSR41 V4 problems

My old BEFSR41 V2 died recently after about 5 years of running flawlessly, so I picked up a new one (v4). I'm also running a WAP54G with it (as I was with the old BEFSR41, and they ran fine together). I am networking 3 PCs together. With the new Linksys, I am experiencing NOTHING but headaches due to intermittent (daily, about 2-3 times) disconnections from the internet, as well as disconnections in my remote desktop connections to my other two networked PCs from my main one.

I just upgraded the firmware and reset the BEFSR41 V4 as well, to no avail.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I take this crap back and go with Netgear. Thanks!

How do you know it is not your cable or DSL modem? When my cable modem died, the early symptoms were intermittent disconnects.

Have you tried using ethereal with logging to see what traffic is doing just before the problems?

I just assumed it was the router because I got internal disconnects on my network...network shares/remote desktop connections went down at the same time that internet access (the outside world) went down. These all happened for a very brief time.

1. Who is your ISP?
2. What make and model modem do you have?
3. Have you checked the modems signal levels?
