Re: OOL Versus Verizon

OK, then please send that "meaningless" $10 to me. I'll save you the trouble of writing monthly checks; just send me $120 to cover the next year.

Only $10? Why not ask me to drop cable and send it all to you. Why not you drop your DSL down to the $15 and you'd save more then that on your own without any charity?

I think the point is that CV is very comparable as we've seen elsewhere in comparisons other areas have done comparing FIOS to their existing options. Despite all the rants that CV is overpriced, it's truly no different then the new kid on the block that's trying to win away business.

So I guess we're done with the "marketing" you were pushing and reality shows the truth - no difference, personal choice based on content. Certainly no flat out "everyone will switch", that's for sure.

I guess $10/month isn't so meaningless to you after all.

I guess now that you can't pick on CV's pricing, you're picking on me. If $10 meant so much to me, I'd drop down to 5/2. Or I'd drop from ioGold to ioSilver. The $10 doesn't matter in the decision for me. Would I give it to you, no. I'd spend it on something else for me.

Now find something/someone else to try and pick on.

$10 isn't much in the grand scheme of things... either way you look at it, after taxes and franchise fees, Verizon will be just as expensive. But, you can't go by what is on their website. It seems as though Verizon is pricing itself based on local competition.

As for channels... they'll eventually get MSG and FSNY. It will probably be through arbitration, but they will get the channels eventually. One thing I don't understand is why Cablevision continues to think that they can hold customers hostage over two sports channels. It just doesn't make sense.

I would hope not. I want there to be competition in the market like anyone else should want. For me, if I can get the same or better for $10 less per month, I will definitely switch over. I am no fan of Cablevision and they have never done anything for me that would make me want to stay loyal to them. Now if Cablevision turns around and asks me to stay for $5 less than Verizon and the same channel offerings, I would consider staying but I would still want Verizon to come into the market strong enough so that they last and compete with cable. Everyone except for Cablevision should benefit from Verizon coming in to the market and that has already been proven by CV bumping up their speeds at no cost and offering a higher tier of service in some areas where FiOS is available.
